3 Tips for Turning a Shed Into a Man Cave

Man caves are becoming more and more popular these days. They give a person a way to express themselves and have a space for their hobbies and interests. Rather than being in an already full garage or having to use the spare bedroom or office for your projects, you now have the space you need. Today we are going to discuss a few tips on using a shed for your man cave.

1. Choose Your Theme

Before choosing your size and what options it will need, you need to decide your theme. A building used for a man cave to build motors and work on other vehicle projects will require different electrical options than a building being used as a backyard bar and hangout space. And both uses would most likely require different layouts and different door options. So choose your theme and then we can look at designing it.

2. Choose Your Options

Next, we decide on the options we want. Does it need plumbing, electricity, or even insulation? If you are wanting a bathroom in it, or any type of running water you will need to look at your plumbing options.

Depending on your theme you will need to layout the electrical plan and pick what style lights you want. Do you want basic electrical? Do you need a higher voltage for running bigger equipment and machinery? These will be important options to think about.

Do you need insulation in it? Depending on how much time you spend in the building and what you are going to be using it for, insulation could be a good investment. Not only will it help with the temperature of the building but it will also help with condensation and moisture.

3. Floor Finish

Most sheds are installed on a wooden floor. These wooden floors offer several options for flooring. You can go with stained wood floors, and then seal it with a coat of epoxy. You can do the hardwood flooring planks in it if you are looking to use it as a craft room or backyard bar. Using it for building motors and the like? You can paint the floor or you can upgrade your flooring to the LP Smart floor to handle the liquids that may spill out.
